Beckett researchers to shed light on the ‘Truth About Exercise’
Staff from the Carnegie School of Sport will appear in ITV’s Tonight programme, ‘The Truth about Exercise’, on Thursday 9 February from 7.30pm to 8pm.
The programme will investigate the truth about exercise looking at the fitness industry and the effectiveness of going to the gym, as well as whether workouts on the NHS can help turn around unhealthy lifestyles and potentially save lives.
Paul Gately, Professor of Exercise and Obesity, musculoskeletal health expert Dr Karen Hind, cardiac specialist Costas Tsakirides and sports and exercise physiologist Dr Antonios Stavropoulos-Kalinoglou all provided their expert opinion for the show, which also showcased Leeds Beckett sports science facilities.
Professor Paul Gately said: “We were delighted to be able contribute to this programme. At Leeds Beckett we have considerable expertise in health, obesity, fitness and physical activity and through the filming we were able to demonstrate both the quality of our research staff and our facilities.”
