Scale up your business with free Leeds Beckett workshops
The workshops, entitled ‘From start-up to scale-up – How to grow fast and avoid the pitfalls’ – will take place in Leeds, Halifax and Wakefield on Monday 25, Wednesday 27 and Friday 29 March.
The events form part of Leeds Beckett’s Innovation Network series and will explore the challenges faced by early stage businesses who are looking to grow: from recruitment and funding to finding premises and developing new skills and processes.
Speakers at the events include: Mark Copsey, Lecturer at Leeds Business School and Director of development and training company Red Kite Innovations; and three company owners who have successfully scaled up their businesses while being based within Leeds Beckett’s University Business Centres: Jonty Abbott, Director of change management consultancy Fluid IT; Achille Traore, CEO of digital media and technology company, Top Screen Media Ltd; and Andy Jack, Co-founder of Candle Digital, a company which equips small businesses to sell their expertise using digital tools.
Katie Rigarlsford, University Business Centre and Regional Development Manager at Leeds Beckett, said: “Getting your start-up off the ground may have been challenging, but scaling it up can bring a new set of challenges. As your business grows you will need to use different skills, recruit staff members, adopt different processes and potentially find new premises. How you manage this growth is crucial as this will determine whether your business thrives or fails.
“Through these free workshops, our speakers will share their own experiences of growing their businesses and the lessons they have learnt; and there will be the opportunity to find out more about how the Leeds Beckett University Business Centres can support you in scaling up your company.”
The sessions will be held at Lupton Fawcett LLP, East Parade, Leeds, on Monday 25 March, 8.30-10.30am; the University Business Centre at Piece Mill in Halifax on Wednesday 27 March, 9-11am; and the Wakefield Suite at Wakefield One on Friday 29 March, 9.30-11am.
The events are supported and sponsored by AD:VENTURE, a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) project delivered across the Leeds City Region to provide support to young businesses with an ambition to grow. The events are also delivered in partnership with the Yorkshire Post, Lupton Fawcett LLP, WGN Accountants, Yorkshire Bank and Exa Networks.
Innovation Network events are held quarterly in each University Business Centre and focus on innovation as a driver for business growth in the region. The network is targeted at growth SMEs, corporate businesses and policy makers, as well as anyone interested in innovation and future trends. Each event features expert industry and academic speakers and the opportunity to gain new business contacts.
The Leeds Beckett University Business Centres provide office space, meeting facilities and a programme of business support to early stage businesses who are looking to grow.
