Get the kids active this Easter with Carnegie sports camps
The Easter Camps are based at the University’s Carnegie Sports Centre, where children will have access to some of the finest tennis and sports hall facilities in the country, within the safety of the University’s grounds.
Kirsty Mcphee, Racket Sports Development Officer at Leeds Beckett, explained: “The camps are fun and friendly and are a great opportunity for children in Leeds and the surrounding areas to keep active over the holiday periods. They are great value for money as participants get access to high-class facilities and the opportunity to work with an elite coaching team. As the teaching is very focused on specific sports, this improves the rate of development of new skills, whilst also improving current skills.”
The Carnegie Junior Rackets Camp, for players aged eight to 14 years, allows children to experience five different racket sports available at Leeds Beckett University: tennis, badminton, squash, racketball and table tennis.
Running from 9am to 4pm each day, the Camp will be led by three performance coaches, ensuring a high quality of coaching throughout the week. The coaching team will also consist of assistant coaches and volunteers. Children will be placed in appropriate groups, dependent on ability and age, and they can choose to attend on any of the four days at £25 per day or £100 for four days.
The Carnegie Athletics Easter Camp is for children aged eight to 16 years and is a balanced programme of activities, techniques, skills and games delivered by fully qualified UK Athletics coaches who all have experience of working with children of all abilities.
Under the guidance of experienced coaches, children will take part in a wide range of athletic events, including: sprinting, pole vault, hurdles, javelin, discus, long jump, shot put and high jump.
The children will be put into groups by age (juniors – eight to 10 years and seniors – 11 to 16 years), with one coach per group. The four-day camp is priced at £56, with individual days available at a cost of £14 per day. Each day runs from 10am to 1pm.
