Participants sought for research to investigate age-related fall risk
The team, led by Dr Sarah Clarke, a Senior Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Biomechanics at Leeds Beckett, is looking for male and female volunteers of 65-75 years of age to take part in the research project, which involves a number of tests to assess strength, balance and function, such as standing from a chair and walking.
Speaking about the study, Dr Sarah Clarke said: “It is hoped this research can help in the identification of factors associated with functional decline in the elderly. This may inform training programs to improve performance in these tasks for older adults. This is something of upmost importance with an ever increasing number of older adults in our society.”
Each participant will receive a report detailing their strength profile with advice on areas for improvement.
To participate in this study participants will need to meet the following criteria:
- Be aged between 65 and 75 years old.
- Live independently within the community.
- Have no history of cardiovascular disease, neurological conditions, serious injuries to the legs or back, severe visual impairment or unexplained falls in the past 12 months.
If you would like to take part in the research study, please contact Dr Sarah Clarke on 0113 812 7576 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
