Leeds Beckett graduate Sam Quek going for gold
Quek, BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science 2010, is guaranteed at least a silver after playing in the emphatic 3-0 semi-final win over New Zealand on Wednesday.
Alex Danson's double and Helen Richardson-Walsh's penalty stroke gave GB victory.
They are now looking to beat world number ones the Netherlands - aiming for a third successive Olympic gold in Rio – in the final.
Speaking after sealing their place in the gold medal match, GB head coach Danny Kerry said: “I am very, very proud of them all.
"But there's still one more game to go and they're going to keep their feet on the ground.
Massive night for @SamanthaQuek tonight. She's currently making her 50th GB appearance. Congratulations! #Hockey pic.twitter.com/kfamsHkJF7

"I think the final will be a tight, cagey affair. The Netherlands have some talented players and they will probably start as red-hot favourites but we like it that way."
