Introducing a new identity for our university
People are at the very heart of our university, which is why we listened to thousands of voices during the development of our new identity.
In 2016, we commissioned independent research into the perceptions of our university among 2,500 alumni, the people of Yorkshire and regional businesses. The results demonstrated that we needed to raise the profile of the university and elevate our areas of strength.
Discussions with students, prospective students and staff then helped us identify the characteristics of Leeds Beckett and shape a story that captures who we are.
That has resulted in a new logo that brings together three fundamental themes:
- The Yorkshire rose to symbolise our heritage and our home in Leeds and Yorkshire.
- A compass to demonstrate our ambition and the fact that our students come to university to set the direction of their future careers.
- A wax seal to symbolise that a degree from Leeds Beckett is a mark of excellence.
The logo is just one part of a larger initiative, that includes the Transform campaign, to raise our profile and emphasise our areas of academic strength.
