The world in 2025 to be debated at Leeds Beckett business lecture
The free, public event is part of the annual Leeds Business School lecture series, and is sponsored by Yorkshire Bank. The session will run from 5.30pm-7pm on Tuesday 25 November at the University’s Rose Bowl.
Sean, who consults at board level will be looking to the future, specifically 2025, a significant date in the region with the likely arrival of High Speed 2 (HS2) - a planned high-speed railway between London Euston, the English Midlands, North West England, Yorkshire, and potentially North East England and the Central Belt of Scotland.
Sean, who will discuss the constraining factors that a business might face and examine how business can prepare effectively, commented: “With all of the change surrounding us, the trick is to spot the opportunities in the discontinuity, whilst also gearing up for a world of continuous change.
“Over the next decade, as we are nudged into an increasingly integrated and transparent world, we will need to learn to share and collaborate in a meaningful way to fully benefit from these opportunities.”
The Egremont Group is a management consultancy specialising in fast, flexible and lasting business transformation. Sean has spent the last 25 years consulting. A founding partner, he previously worked for Gemini Consulting.
A specialist in business transformation, he has designed and led a number of successful, results-driven projects with some of the biggest companies in the FTSE 100 in a diverse range of sectors including retail, manufacturing, utilities, mining, life sciences, chemicals and healthcare.
A regular speaker at conferences and corporate events for organisations ranging from British Gas to the NHS, Sean also lectures at Westminster and Birmingham City Universities where he has been a visiting professor since 2008.
Paul Houghton, Principal Lecturer in Leeds Beckett's Faculty of Business and Law, added: “Who knows what the world holds for us in 2025, but one thing is certain, if the HS2 is launched then, businesses in this region and beyond will need to plan, prepare and adapt for it. Sean Connolly and the Egremont Group specialise in business transformation, so it will be fascinating to hear his thoughts on this topical subject.”
