‘Edinburgh Fringe Survival Guide’ author to visit Performing Arts
Mark, who has written about theatre in Scotland since the late 1980s, will be talking to undergraduates on Tuesday 9 December about his book ‘The Edinburgh Fringe Survival Guide’.
He will also discuss how to take a show to Edinburgh, his career as a freelance writer and his forthcoming book ‘How to Write about Theatre’.
Gillian Dyson-Moss, Senior Lecturer in Performing Arts at Leeds Beckett University, commented: “This is a brilliant opportunity for students in Performing Arts to hear from a leading industry professional. This talk will support their work-based learning in research, and demonstrates the breadth of professional opportunity that our course represents.”
Mark is based in Edinburgh and is the Scottish theatre critic for ‘The Guardian’ and ‘Variety’, a former editor of ‘The List’ magazine and a frequent contributor to numerous publications, websites and newspapers, including ‘Scotland on Sunday’. As an editor, he has worked for the Edinburgh International Festival and Raploch Urban Regeneration Company and is co-editor of Made in Scotland, an anthology of plays.
