Beckett business graduate scoops top boss award
Jonathan Sanderson graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies in 2006. After his degree, he landed a graduate job through our Job Shop with IT recruitment company, SThree, before starting his own company, Corecom Consulting, in 2008.
Award judge and Director at the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo), Marilyn Davidson, said: “Jonathan’s commitment and dedication to his company, the technology industry and to raising employment prospects in the community is an inspiration.
“This award acknowledges his contributions to business innovation, increasing the number of women in technology roles, raising graduate prospects in the region and upskilling underrepresented community groups; key challenges within the IT sector.
“Jonathan is a talented mentor who has overturned the usual stereotypical assumptions that come with recruiters.”
Jonathan hosted the second annual free networking event for Women in Technology (WITBoss) in June, in support of the national WISE campaign for gender balance in science, technology and engineering.
He also hosts an annual free networking event for improving employability prospects for university students across Yorkshire - GradBoss.
GradBoss is for students in their final year looking for careers in technology and to make connections. Jonathan also supports and mentors the Student Computing Society at Leeds Beckett.
Jonathan was also recently shortlisted for Entrepreneur of the Year at the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards.
He said: “It’s a real honour to accept this award and to have been recognised by my peers. This just tops a fantastic year for the company and our community partners.”
