2019 Leeds Sports Awards launch
Head of Sport Sally Nickson (pictured) attended the official launch at Elland Road alongside high profile athletes from the city including Paralympic champion Hannah Cockroft MBE, Olympic champion Jack Laugher MBE and world boxing champion Josh Warrington.
Sally will be on the judging panel for the awards and is looking forward to celebrating another year of success for the city of Leeds.
Sally said “2018 has been a great year of sport, with many success stories across the city.
“The awards bring talented athletes, coaches, teachers, administrators, officials and volunteers together for the biggest sporting celebration in Leeds.”
The official launch also revealed the nominees for the senior achievers category - including sportsman, sportswoman and performance coach of the year.

Georgia Taylor-Brown, triathlon (BSc Hons Sports & Exercise Science, 2015)
Lois Forsell, rugby league (BA Hons Sports Development, 2015)
Performance Coach of the Year nominee
Dave Murray, gymnastics, (BA Hons Physical Education, 2007)
Last year saw Dave Murray win the Performance Coach award alongside former Leeds Rhinos boss Brian McDermott and he will be hoping to reclaim his crown for a second consecutive year, whilst Lois was nominated in the sportswoman category. The 2019 Awards will be Georgia’s first nomination.
The awards will take place at the First Direct Arena, Leeds on Thursday 28 February 2019 and will celebrate the success and contributions of athletes, coaches and volunteers across all levels in the city from grassroots to elite level sport.
