Queen's Birthday Honours for Leeds Beckett University graduates
Lydia Fairman completed a BA (Hons) in Humanities and Social Studies in 2002 and has been recognised with a British Empire Medal for services to Science, Technology, Education and Maths (STEM) and to Vulnerable People during Covid-19.
Lydia is Lead Capability and Development Manager at Network Rail. She helped secure Network Rail’s accreditation with White Ribbon – a charity which aims to end violence against women.
Sharron Moverley-Holmes, who completed an LLB (Hons) Law and a PG Diploma in Legal Practice in 2002, has been recognised with a British Empire Medal for services to Policing.
Sharron is a Special Constable Chief Officer at North Yorkshire Police. She became a Special Constable 38 years ago whilst training as a solicitor and was appointed as a Chief Officer in 2015.
Janet Thornton, who is from East Keswick, completed several part-time language courses at Leeds Beckett University. She has been awarded an MBE for services to Rural Communities in Yorkshire.
