Dance students to perform at Northern Ballet
The evening event, 'QuickStep', will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday 14 May in Northern Ballet's Stanley and Audrey Burton Theatre and will see first year BA (Hons) Dance students premiere two new pieces of work they have created with international choreographers Beth Cassani and Douglas Thorpe.
Second year students will also showcase a selection of solo, duet and group works that they have independently produced as part of their 'Performance, Open, Dance' choreography project. Student choreographers include: Lisa Clayton, Katie-Anne Daniels, Jemma Broomhead, Daniel Phung, Matthew Peters and Delena Walters.
Course Leader Rachel Krische, commented: "Our students have been working intensively in preparation for the event. The end of year performance acts as a celebration of their work and commitment over the past few months. It's an opportunity for them to share an insight into their creative studies with their peers, family and friends and also for the wider public to see the creative and academic dance praxis that happens at our university."
Head of School, Andrew Fryer, added: "QuickStep promises to be a fantastic evening for all who attend. At Leeds Metropolitan University we pride ourselves on the creative commitment of our dance undergraduates and the Theatre at Northern Ballet is a superb professional venue to see them in action."
The performance is free but places are limited. Tickets can be booked by telephoning the Stanley and Audrey Burton Theatre box office on 0113 220 8008.
