Entertainment Management students take Control
The visit allowed students to meet Promotions Manager Danny Harrison and Assistant Venue Manager Christian Pollitt, both of whom are Leeds Met alumni from the Entertainment Management course.
Danny and Christian gave an excellent insight into the running of a new venue in an intensely competitive environment, ensuring that our students are well equipped for the planning and hard work that is involved. They also talked extensively about the portfolio of employability skills that the students need to develop at university to be able to work effectively as a manager in the entertainment industry.
Student Lily Roberts commented: "I thought the tour was very inspiring, it was very eye opening and definitely motivational", while classmate Emily Waller said: "I really enjoyed the trip as it is great to see what we can make of ourselves through this course."
Course Leader Stuart Moss added: "The industrial visits are an essential part of the Entertainment Management course. They introduce students to the real breadth of entertainment industry venues that exist. The visit was exceptional, Danny and Christian both made me feel very proud to have been their tutor, in the extremely professional way that they spoke to the students, and the passion and commitment that they demonstrated."
This is the first of several visits that the Entertainment Management students will undertake this semester, other visits include Leeds Metropolitan's Student Union Media Centre, Halo Nightclub, The Grand Theatre and the National Railway Museum.
