Former Leeds Met student and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson to be coach on BBC1's The Voice
Ricky completed his degree with us in 2000 and has gone on to be hugely successful as the lead singer of Leeds band, the Kaiser Chiefs. The Kaiser Chiefs began in 1996 and catapulted to fame in 2005 with their hit single, 'I Predict a Riot', and an appearance at the Live-8 festival. Their debut album, 'Employment', won the Ivor Novello award for best album in 2006.
Last year, they performed at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and supported Green Day at their one-off concert at the Emirates Stadium in London in June. They were one of the first bands to play at the new Leeds First Direct Arena last week on Friday 13 September.
Ricky will be joining new coach Kylie Minogue and returning coaches Tom Jones and will.i.am on the talent show when it returns to BBC One in January.
BBC Commissioner Mark Linsey said: "Ricky is one of the UK music scene's great frontmen. He knows all about performance and will complement the rest of the coaching line-up perfectly."
