Health education chief joins Leeds Met
Dr Latham is Chief Operating Officer at Health Education England (HEE), providing national leadership for the development and performance management of HEE's Local Education and Training Boards (LETBs).
Dr Latham was previously Chief Operating Officer for Information Systems at the National Institute for Health Research, supporting the provision of high-quality clinical research in the NHS, so that patients can benefit from new and better treatments. She has over 20 years of experience in the higher education sector.
Speaking about the news, Professor Ieuan Ellis, Dean of the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences at Leeds Metropolitan, said: "I am delighted by the appointment of Dr Nicki Latham as a visiting professor to Leeds Metropolitan University. Nicki has a strong association with our faculty and university, having completed her masters and PhD here and worked for a number of years as an academic staff member. Nicki has a wealth of expertise in health policy, practice and research and will make a valuable contribution to the excellence of our teaching and research activity."
Dr Latham added: "I am honoured to accept this role; it represents my twin passions of excellent academia and creating a highly qualified and motivated workforce to deliver better quality care for our patients and public. It is like coming home for me and I am delighted that I will be back amongst the excellent staff and students of Leeds Metropolitan University."
