Innovating with business and technology at Leeds Met
Clive Grinyer, Director of Customer Experience in the Innovation Team of Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), and Jon Dean, Regional Advisor on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, hosted the hour-long session at Old Broadcasting House on Wednesday 24 April 2013.
The duo gave advice on how businesses can be given a competitive edge by understanding the impact design, innovation and technology can have on economic growth. The presentation also addressed how joining forces with universities can boost business success and help secure Government funding to invest in innovation through Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). In addition more than 20 Leeds Met academics showcased their expertise in the digital field and mobile technology.
Associate Dean of Enterprise at Leeds Met's Faculty of Business and Law, Nick Cope, commented: "Our academics were able to showcase their advanced expertise in digital technology, as well as demonstrate the opportunities that collaboration with the university can bring to support innovation and business growth."
The session, which was attended by regional businesses, saw Mr Grinyer discuss the importance of using design and technology to create customer and business value. His recent projects include the Style Me digital mirror for John Lewis and the Digital Cafe public video installation.
Mr Dean advised on how to access Government funding to support innovative projects. Further information can be found at www.ktponline.org.uk.
