International entrepreneur leads the way
Zulfi Hussain, who helped raise more than £2m for victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami and is the founder of international charity Global Promise, will speak at the free public event entitled 'An Entrepreneur's Inspirational Leadership' from 6-7pm on Thursday 18 October in the Rose Bowl at the University's city centre campus.
He will talk about how entrepreneurs can inspire through leadership and how this can lead to opportunities and success.
"A large part of being enterprising is being able to spot opportunities and turn visions and ideas into reality," commented Mr Hussain. "I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with those who attend the event at Leeds Met. I'll be using examples of both my own and other people's business and charity successes, offering practical guidance on creative thinking and how to take entrepreneurial action."
The seminar will conclude with an opportunity to ask questions.
Through his own desire to inspire through leadership Mr Hussain launched a web-based charity Global Promise, which raised more than £2m for victims of 2004's Boxing Day tsunami in southern Asia. Today the charity focuses on improving the quality of life in local communities around the world. The organisation widens participation, extending social inclusion, particularly among disadvantaged and hard to reach groups, including young people.
Paul Houghton, Principle Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Leeds Metropolitan, who organised the guest lecture, said: "Zulfi Hussain's charity Global Promise facilitates meaningful partnerships between schools, businesses and community groups, making a difference to the lives of people from minority groups and to many from disadvantaged backgrounds. He is an international speaker and an inspirational leader in the business world and will be of interest whether you are a student, a budding entrepreneur or an established business person."
