Leadership Development Day at Leeds Met
The event, which will run from 10am-7pm on Monday 1 July at the University's Carnegie Pavilion at Headingley Stadium, will offer a package of practical development in key areas of activity. The programme will take ideas from other areas of high performance activity such as sport, the media, police negotiation and outdoor adventure and apply them to business. It will close with a talk by international cricketers Alec Stewart and Jason Gillespie who will discuss their experiences of Ashes cricket and the lessons to be learned from this for business leaders.
Francis Patton, Senior Lecturer in Strategy at Leeds Met, who has helped to organise the event, said: "This programme is part of the university's ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the area of multi-unit leadership. The aim is to provide a series of sessions for such individuals and teams that will aid their development. The day gives attendees the opportunity to experience a number of workshops and then feed back to the team on their applicability and any areas of further interest."
Subjects covered will include: leadership in sport and business; team development from an outdoor adventure perspective; delivering value from CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) from a marketing perspective; negotiations from a police perspective; communication from a TV and media perspective; coaching from a professional sport perspective and multi-unit leadership CPD opportunities at Leeds Met.
The development day is priced at £50 per area manager or £100 for three (maximum of 3 attendees per organisation). The fee includes lunch and refreshments.
