Leading hoteliers to speak at Leeds Met
Peter Banks, the Managing Director and Nuno Cesar de Sa, the Manager of Rudding Park Hotel, will together host the talk 'Achievement through success and failure', on Tuesday 1 October from 6-7pm in the Rose Bowl at the University's City Campus.
At the TripAdvisor Traveller Choice Awards 2013, Rudding Park Hotel, Spa & Golf, was voted number one hotel in the UK, second Top Hotel in Europe and fourth Top Hotel in the World.
Peter Banks
A hotelier through and through, Peter Banks, joined the team at The Savoy aged 18 as a Management Trainee. He then progressed through to the role of duty manager at St Andrew's Old Course Hotel, Front House Manager at the Hilton on Park Lane followed by Acting General Manager at the Hilton Mews. Since 1996 Peter has overseen Rudding Park's development and has created a culture to instil top level personal service.
Speaking ahead of the lecture, Peter commented: "Our success (or failure) is entirely down to a creation of a culture of service that relies on one thousand actions every day. Every action, or inaction made by a leader has a consequent reaction and I am looking forward to discussing this with the University and using our experience to demonstrate successful (or not!) tactics."
Nuno Cesar de Sa has undertaken various roles within the catering and hotel industry, including Macau, South East Asia, leading to the role of General Manager at the Wentbridge House Hotel and later the Wood Hall Hotel & Spa in Leeds. As Hotel Manager at Rudding Park, he also operates as a restaurant business consultant, advising on plans and providing marketing recommendations.
He said: "I am very much looking forward to some interactive discussions about how at Rudding Park we instigate our culture into our staff, the challenges that can rise when our culture values fail and how we celebrate our hard earned success!"

Paul Houghton, Principal Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Leeds Met, added: "As the second event in our 2013/14 business guest lecture series, this talk is a fantastic opportunity to hear the history of the success behind one of North Yorkshire's most well-known hotels. What's more, it will be fascinating to hear about how Peter and Nuno have made their mark not just at Rudding Park, but as well-known and respected hoteliers and businessmen."
