Leeds Met looks to appoint new Chair of the Board of Governors
Our Vice Chancellor, Professor Susan Price, joined our University in January 2010 and is leading a programme of strategic renewal. Our Board has been refreshed through recent appointments including Deputy Chair, Bill Hartley, and our outgoing Chair, Lord Woolmer of Leeds, leaves a diverse, strong and committed team.
This is a particularly stimulating time to join the Board as the UK higher education sector is undergoing significant change in a more competitive environment. Ensuring effective leadership of the Board, the incoming Chair will provide advice, guidance and challenge to the Vice Chancellor and her executive team in developing the strategic direction of our University and achievement of key objectives.
We are looking for an excellent communicator and relationship builder who will be expected to represent the University externally, promoting its interests with key stakeholders regionally, nationally and internationally.
Candidates will be respected senior figures of recognised stature with extensive leadership, and some Chairmanship, experience in complex private or public organisations of considerable scale and complexity. Some understanding of the higher education sector is desirable as is an empathy with our University's vision and mission.
This high profile appointment presents an opportunity to make a significant personal contribution. Candidates must have the capacity to devote sufficient time and energy to the role.
