Leeds Met supports scholarship bids
The National Scholarship Fund, run by the Department for Education (DfE) and in its second year, allows staff involved in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to bid for a share of up to £2million to fund specialist training.
Nick Mitchell, Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of the National Award in SEN Co-ordination said: "This is a fantastic scheme which enables SEN staff to gain valuable skills and professional qualifications - at whatever level. Bids for funding start on Monday 8 April and close on Thursday 25 April; so the application window is very short. We know it can be tricky to bid for awards like this, which is why we've devised a set of online guidelines to help SEN staff apply for the scholarships. We want to take some of the pressure off."
If successful, Leeds Metropolitan is also offering applicants a Certificate in Higher Education (Cert HE) in Special Educational Needs, an Advanced Diploma (Adv Dip) in Special Educational Needs and a Post Graduate Certificate (PG Cert) in Special Educational Needs Coordination SEN training and qualifications up to postgraduate level, uniquely run entirely online.
