Masters student secures adidas internship
Laura will join adidas' Innovation Team working with Sport Researchers, Engineers, Designers and Developers, to design and execute various tests and research projects evaluating the performance of products and prototypes on athletes and in the research lab.
Laura explains: "I will be running biomechanics tests on products that are in the development stages and then reporting my findings back to other members of the team such as the engineers and designers. The role will also involve product testing with athletes and later in the internship I will get to manage a project of my own."
She continued: "My major independent study as part of my Masters is investigating whether different designs of sports bras have an effect on thoracic rotation during running. Because of my interest in this area, product testing and development was always a field I wanted to develop as a career path."
"The experience that I have gained with the biomechanics facilities and software at Leeds Met has helped me develop as a practitioner and the experience of planning and developing my major independent study has been invaluable. I will be able to transfer the skills and knowledge utilised at Leeds Met to my internship at adidas and hopefully develop these further."
She continued: "Getting the chance to work with a company such as adidas goes without saying, but I am also looking forward to my first trip to the States and getting to know a new culture and experience new people and places."
