New Director of Quality Assurance
Mark will take a lead role, reporting to Professor Sally Glen, in ensuring that all our processes and our overall approach to quality, standards and enhancement are reviewed and fit for purpose.
He is currently Head of Academic Quality and Standards at Sheffield Hallam University. He graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in English in 1982. Before joining Sheffield Hallam in 1991, he worked as a civil servant for the Ministry of Defence in central London. He gained an MBA from the Open University in 2003.
In his role at Sheffield Hallam Mark has been responsible for the integrity and development of the University's overall quality management framework. He co-ordinated preparation for the University's most recent Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) audit in 2010, which led to judgements of confidence in the University's management of academic quality and standards.
Mark is an experienced audit secretary for the QAA, an executive member of the UK's Quality Strategy Network, and serves as a peer reviewer on quality committees and approval panels for two other universities in England. He has also travelled overseas to visit Sheffield Hallam's partners including those in Malaysia, India, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
He says: "I am very pleased to be joining Leeds Metropolitan as Director of Quality Assurance and look forward to meeting and working with new colleagues over the coming months."
