PES spirit of Christmas
The event comes as part of the Professional Events Solution (PES) module in which students are challenged to plan and implement an event which will raise awareness and funds for a charitable organisation of their choice, at the same time as providing them with practical industry experience.
Antje Strietholt, who acted as client liaison for her tutor group, 'Cinnamon Events,' commented: "The module has provided us with the creativity, knowledge, skills and support to run this event both successfully and safely and now we're very proud to present the Spirit of Christmas Fayre."
She continued: "We hope to raise as much money as possible for the brilliant Leeds Children's Charity."
The Spirit of Christmas Fayre will be held at the Holy Trinity Church on Boar Lane from 10am to 4pm, with the Leeds Lord Mayor officially opening the event at 10am.
Over 40 events by Leeds Met students will follow over the next four months, including an 'experimental dog comedy' night, a 'club night silent disco' and a 'battle of the bands' which students have created from their charities brief while being mentored by UK Centre for Events Management lecturers.
Charities range from Sue Ryder to Diabetes UK, Hope 4 Justice to Children's Air Ambulance.
Last year over £13,000 was raised for charity.
