Rudimental nominated in the 2013 Mercury Prize
Rudimental are among 12 big names nominated for this year's £20,000 Barclaycard Mercury Prize, which will be announced on 30 October.
Last year, Piers and Kesi popped into Headingley Campus to talk to our music students about their success and their route from graduation to stardom.
Piers said: "We did a remix module at Leeds Met which gave us a buzz for getting vocals and manipulating them in our own way which evolved from there. The course helped us to understand the range of jobs available in the industry: I discovered live sound and music to picture and was able to apply for jobs afterwards that I didn't even know existed."
Kesi added: The facilities at Leeds Met are next to none. Being in the music industry now and looking back, we remember things that we learnt on the course. For example, it gave us an insight into publishing and knowledge of things that we now have to deal with in our careers."
After storming to the top of the UK charts in 2012 with their number one single, 'Feel the Love', Rudimental were shortlisted in last year's MOBO category of Best Newcomer along with Rita Ora and former X-Factor contestant Misha B. Latest single, 'Waiting All Night', featuring Ella Eyre, reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in April this year and two weeks later, 'Home' debuted at number one in the UK Albums Chart. They hit the road again in October, playing at Leeds O2 Academy on Tuesday 8 October.
