Students 'imPRess' judges at Grayling Competitive Pitch 2013
All final year BA (Hons) Public Relations students were presented with a real-life brief from the Northern office of global communications firm, Grayling. Forming an inspired campaign to meet the brief's aims and objectives, the team, one of 18 groups who pitched to Leeds Metropolitan University PR course tutors, made it into the top four groups selected to pitch in front of a panel of judges at Grayling North's Leeds office.
ImPRess, made up of Leah Eser, Georgia Reilly, Jo Trimmings and Chloe Wise, wowed the judges and were announced as this year's winners, scooping the £500 prize, following a rigorous, competitive pitch to Grayling's Christine Emmingham and Katie Eborall.
"We are thrilled to have been crowned the winners, it has been a real team effort and a fantastic achievement for us all as we prepare for graduation," said the team. "The pitch has provided us with practical skills and confidence we can apply to future pitches and in our new roles outside of University. It has also been very exciting working with such an esteemed agency on this exciting project!"
Lucy Laville, Public Relations Course Leader and Senior Lecturer at Leeds Metropolitan, added: "We're very grateful to Grayling for supporting PR students at Leeds Met with this annual prize which is a highlight for our final year students. The experience they gain by presenting to Grayling is excellent preparation for the highly competitive world of public relations."
Christine Emmingham, Director, Grayling North, said: "We value our partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University's PR degree course, which has now been running for 18 years, and are delighted to offer students the chance to have some 'real-life' PR experience. This year's winning team were clear winners; they had the right strategic approach brought to life with workable ideas and creative flair."
