Students set for Lift Off
The event - which celebrates and showcases innovative performances, installations and exhibitions by final year students, will run from May 16-18, in and around Leeds Metropolitan's City Campus and will be open to the public from midday to 9pm each day.
The work is that of students on the BA (Hons) Art, Event, Performance and the BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance Practices courses.
Exhibitions include one-to-one performances by students Danielle Whiteley-Smith and Stephen Balkwill and new choreography by Anna Williams and Beth Cassani, while installations by Stuart Humphreys, Claire Bragg, Stephanie Smith and Frankie Farrow will be available to view throughout the three-day event.
Andrew Fryer, the Head of School for Film, Music and Performing Arts, said: "The Lift Off Festival is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their creativity to industry professionals and the general public, bringing together their graduation work from recent national and international festivals into one unmissable 3-day event. Prepare to be amazed!''
This is Leeds Metropolitan's second graduating year of the Art, Event, Performance course. It is a unique course in the UK and Europe and is a direct response to the widespread merging of art forms and popular culture to produce exciting hybrid work, between theatre and art, at the cutting edge of performance cultures.
