Triple BRIT Award nomination for music graduates
Rudimental are up for the awards of Best British Group, Best British Single (for 'Waiting All Night') and Best British Album of the Year (for 'Home'). Capital FM has tipped the group to win both Best Group and Best Album.
The BRIT Awards 2014 are taking place this week at the O2 Arena on Wednesday 19 February.
Last year, Rudimental received the Best Album award for 'Home' in the MOBO awards and they were amongst 12 finalists nominated in the Barclaycard Mercury Prize. 'Home' debuted at number one in the UK albums chart in May 2013.
In 2012, Piers and Kesi popped into Headingley Campus to talk to our music students about their success and their route from graduation to stardom.
Piers said: "We did a remix module at Leeds Met which gave us a buzz for getting vocals and manipulating them in our own way which evolved from there. The course helped us to understand the range of jobs available in the industry: I discovered live sound and music to picture and was able to apply for jobs afterwards that I didn't even know existed."
Kesi added: "The facilities at Leeds Met are next to none. Being in the music industry now and looking back, we remember things that we learnt on the course. For example, it gave us an insight into publishing and knowledge of things that we now have to deal with in our careers."
