Victory for Rhinos in Grand Final
University partners, the Leeds Rhinos, triumphed26-18 over Warrington Wolves in a thrilling Grand Final at Old Trafford to avenge the Carnegie Challenge Cup defeat in August.
Leeds Met MA Sport Business student and Rhinos captain Kevin Sinfield was instrumental in the Rhinos win, scoring 14 points and winning the coveted Harry Sunderland man-of-the-match trophy.
Fellow Leeds Met student and former England captain Jamie Peacock was appearing in his 10th Grand Final and picked up his eight winner's ring.
Speaking to the Leeds Rhinos website after the side's victory, Kevin Sinfield said: "It gets better to win these, the first one was special, but for us to come from fifth again, it's an incredible night. The last month has been awesome. The year has been tough, we talked about not being happy to be fifth, but we showed quality and desire. The will to win isn't just the players and the coaches, it's the whole club."
