Welcome to our new SU team
Our Students' Union is a student-governed organisation, independent of our University. Whilst the Union is independent, it does work closely with our University to ensure that the voice of the student is heard. The Students' Union serves to offer advice, support and guidance to help our students through the academic year. The student executives that help manage and maintain this organisation are elected by our students each February. Elections this year were highly contested and candidates campaigned intensely to win your vote.
Our new Students' Union president is Joshua (Jay) Malpass-Clark. Jay's role is a huge responsibility. During the coming academic year he will be overseeing all the decisions made within our Union, prioritising what matters most to our students. Jay's fundamental responsibility is ensuring that the Union has an adequate spokesperson for our students, ensuring your voice is heard and are aware of all the diverse events that happen throughout the year. Jay will be dedicated throughout the year ensuring all of our students are enjoying all aspects of University life.
Supporting Jay will be the three newly-elected Vice Presidents. The Vice Presidents are split into three sectors: Education, Student Activities and Welfare.
Our new Education VP is Saffron Rose. Saffron's job entails ensuring the education standards for our students are maintained to a high degree and that your academic experience is heard! She will gather feedback from across our University and through elected course representatives to ensure that there is a clear and regular correspondence maintained between students and academics.
Joining Jay and Saffron is Welfare VP Amy Waine. Amy's job is fundamental in ensuring that the guidance and advice offered to our students is impeccable, working within a provision of support services for students, Amy will ensure that a high standard of guidance on sexual health, mental wellbeing, accommodation, student safety and awareness is available throughout the year, ensuring that all our students feel comfortable and secure during their time at our University.
Finally, Stephen Ross will be joining the team as Activities VP. Stephen's role is to ensure students get involved with our Students' Union and the variety of events it offers. Stephen will also be working closely with the Union's volunteering and societies so that every student is making the most of their time at our University.
We would like to wish the new student executives a successful and prosperous year. Remember, if you need advice, support or general guidance on student life, our Students' Union is a great place to start.
