Leeds Beckett University is committed to fulfilling the principles of the Concordat to Support Research Integrity which provides a comprehensive framework for responsible research conduct and governance.
In compliance with the Concordat to Support Research Integrity, the university publishes an annual Statement on Research Integrity which is considered by the Audit Committee. The statement provides a summary of actions and activities that have been undertaken to support and strengthen understanding and application of research integrity issues.
UKRIO is the UK's most experienced research integrity organisation. Since 2006, it has provided independent and expert support across all disciplines of research, from the arts and humanities to the life sciences. It works to enhance good research practice, address mistakes, questionable practices, and fraud, and improve the culture and systems of UK research.
They offer a range of support and guidance through publication on research practice, training activities and a comprehensive events programme. They also offer expert confidential advice on research integrity issues such as achieving good practice, publication ethics, research misconduct, research ethics, conflicts of interest and improving research culture.
Ensuring and sustaining integrity in all aspects of research is a core aspect of Leeds Beckett University's commitment to the advancement of knowledge. Misconduct in research damages the integrity of research, brings both the individual and the institution into disrepute and can, in extreme circumstances, cause harm to those involved in research. It is an extremely serious matter and, therefore, the university has a duty to ensure that any individuals conducting research do so as per the relevant ethical, legal, and other related conventions. The university seeks to sustain this approach by providing an environment that fosters and supports honesty in research and discourages unacceptable behaviour by dealing seriously and sensitively with all allegations of misconduct in research.
