Who is responsible for research governance at the university?
Academic Board
The Academic Board is the parent committee for academic activities and is responsible for overseeing and regulating general issues relating to research, scholarship, teaching and courses at our university.
Research and Enterprise Committee
The Research and Enterprise Committee is responsible to the Academic Board for overseeing our university's research, enterprise, other scholarly activity and the provision of research degrees.
University Research Ethics Committee (UREC)
The University Research Ethics Committee (UREC) is responsible to the Research and Enterprise Committee for overseeing the development and implementation of our university’s policy and procedures relating to research ethics.
Research Degrees Sub-Committee
The Research Degrees Sub-Committee is responsible to the Research and Enterprise Committee, overseeing adherence to university academic regulations and procedures in research student handbooks. It monitors research degree registration, supervision, and examination arrangements, including appointing external examiners and independent Chairs, and ensures exams and awards comply with regulations.

Audit Committee
The Audit Committee has delegated responsibilities from the Board of Governors to oversee any research misconduct investigations and their reporting on behalf of the university.
