Lisa White

Lisa White is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health and Community Studies at Leeds Beckett University. She is a registered nurse, independent non-medical prescriber and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Alongside her academic role, Lisa continues to practise clinically as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in oncology, maintaining a strong connection between clinical practice and education.

Lisa qualified as a registered nurse in Liverpool in 1998 and has worked across Lancashire, Merseyside and Yorkshire throughout her career. She has more than 25 years of clinical experience, predominantly within secondary care, with expertise spanning oncology, surgical nursing, sexual health, cancer care and advanced clinical practice. She completed her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice through the Degree Apprenticeship route in 2023.

Lisa's teaching is primarily at postgraduate level, and her specialist interests include advanced clinical practice, non-medical prescribing, oncology and palliative care, clinical assessment and simulation-based education. She is the Programme Lead for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice, including the Degree Apprenticeship pathway, and also leads the University's Non-Medical Prescribing programme.

Her academic work is informed by her extensive clinical experience and focuses on supporting healthcare professionals to develop the knowledge, skills and professional confidence required for safe, effective and compassionate advanced practice.
