Shabnam Anam

Shabnam is a lecturer in Primary Education for Carnegie School of Education. She has been a champion of historically marginalised groups in primary education for over 25 years as a teacher, SENDCo, head teacher and governor.

Shabnam is Autistic and has an ADHD profile. She has taught in primary schools across the North East and the North West, including the independent and special school sectors.

Shabnam is also active outside the university: she has worked for Anti Racist Cumbria for the last 4 years as education lead and education strategy lead and runs her own education consultancy supporting schools with their anti racist journeys.

She is a trustee for The Bunker CIC Sunderland which supports music production and performance in the community.
