Stephanie is a registered mental health nurse and independent non-medical prescriber. She has 16 years experience working in the NHS, in ambulance service, mental health services, and with the prison and police service.

Stephanie has a special interest in working with people who self harm or are at risk of suicide and also in supporting staff teams delivering care in these areas to maintain their own well-being. She is trained in solution focused therapy and DBT skills. She is an advocate for service improvement, clinical supervision and staff development and has previously won the 'leader of the year' award in her NHS trust for embedding this philosophy into her practice.

Stephanie started work at Leeds Beckett as a lecturer in March 2024, which is her first formal teaching post, and a natural progression for her from supporting and delivering teaching and learning in clinical practice. She is passionate about mental health nursing as a career, and hopes to replay this passion in her teaching. She loves nothing more than a good debate and encouraging students to bring their experiences, thoughts and challenges to her sessions to help embed and inform learning and practice.

Stephanie is often found in the clinical skills suite as she enjoys supporting clinical learning and simulation and finds this is a great tool in helping students to embed theoretical learning into real life scenarios. She strives to keep her clinical practice current by working regular shifts at her local NHS trust as a staff nurse.
