Having played first team netball for many years, for school, club and county, I have inevitably had injuries and have been treated by sports therapists to help me return to a fully active life and the sport I love. These experiences are what initially triggered my interest in studying this course. I received fantastic support and care for my injuries, which resulted in treatment involving gait re-education, active exercises, passive stretches, proprioception exercises and accessory -mobilisations. Through rehabilitation I met people who inspired me to help others as they do.

The Carnegie 78-82 Scholarship will help enormously by taking away some of the pressure on me of having limited finances. In the forthcoming terms I have very little money to buy study materials, books and other resources. It would mean I could focus on my studies during term time and then work at home during the holidays to supplement my student finances.

It also means I will be able to afford the membership to join the volleyball team and my tennis training which I am thoroughly enjoying. I am finding that my course is intense, both practically and mentally, and I do not want to have a negative impact on my studies by having insufficient study time. I am really committed to not just passing this course but doing so with the highest possible achievable grade.

I believe that this particular BSc degree course gives me a wide range of career choices moving forward. My ultimate ambition is be working for a professional sports team. It would again be a real privilege to work with athletes and sportspeople who are at the height of their professions. It will be interesting to discover what I can achieve and where this course can take me.

"This money will impact my journey through university greatly and ultimately my career afterwards, as it means I am able to make the most out of university and the next three years. I truly appreciate the opportunities given and am grateful for the confidence I have received having been recognized for this scholarship. I plan to make the donors very proud."
