Beckett volunteers help celebrate local charity event
The evening started with a competitive edge with the annual quiz, followed by an entertaining game of Play Your Cards Right. After a competitive couple of games guests took part in a money-raising raffle.
To finish the night off our student volunteers played DJ and guests, both young and old, took to the dance floor as they partied the night away. Just to prove the old adage that age is just a number, a guest in his nineties was one of the first on the dance floor. Residents at Kirkstall Brewery also got involved in the evening, celebrating the fantastic work of the volunteers who offer their time to support the work of Bramley Elderly Action.
Volunteering at events like this is a great way to give your CV a lift and do something meaningful for the communities around you. All it took for volunteers at this event was a willingness to muck in and an openness to meet some fun older people.
It’s easy. Think about what causes really get you going and do a quick Google search to find out what’s happening in Leeds. Then find a contact and get involved.
