Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

How Leeds Beckett University and Leeds Teaching Hospitals created a new getaway to healthcare careers

Leeds Beckett University partnered with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and The Open University to offer support with non-clinical jobs in 2020 and to create a new gateway to careers in nursing in Leeds.

In April 2020, the university made its city campus facilities available to offer teaching spaces, catering facilities and meeting rooms and enable the training of non-clinical staff as part of an NHS recruitment programme in response to the health crisis of the pandemic.

In September 2020, the university launched the Future You Partnership, providing an apprenticeship route for both experienced and aspiring healthcare workers in the Leeds city region to gain the qualifications they need to start a new career as a Nursing Associate or Registered Nurse.

The project won the 2020 North East and Yorkshire NHS Parliamentary Award.

The Future You Partnership continues to make an impact

Through the Future You Partnership, over 130 aspiring healthcare workers now contribute to the region’s medical excellence, offering first-hand support in healthcare settings.

The partnership created a range of opportunities to train healthcare workers through a Foundation Degree at Leeds Beckett University with work placements across multiple specialities. The first cohort of 61 apprentices completed their foundation year in January 2021. Currently, 76 apprentices are actively studying the Trainee Nursing Associate Programme.

Julian Hartley, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Chief Executive, commended the benefits of the partnership and recognised the support from Leeds Beckett and other local businesses has enabled Leeds Teaching Hospitals to provide the best care for their patients.
