Tell us a few details about your current role and how you got here.

I was fortunate to land a communication role at Anglia Ruskin University, London, while pursuing my second masters degree. After balancing both work and studies for ten months, I received an exciting opportunity at University of Law, where I served as an officer supporting students. This position seamlessly integrated my educational background in communication from my dual master's degrees. I am currently Marketing Coordinator (Communications & Engagement), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.

My stint as a global student ambassador at Leeds Beckett University has been instrumental in enriching my CV. I gained hands-on expertise, honed my communication skills, and deepened my organisational knowledge.

How did your course at Leeds Beckett help you?

Throughout my time at Leeds Beckett University, the coursework was exceptionally practical, with each module offering hands-on experiences. This practical approach not only facilitated a deeper understanding of the subject matter but also allowed me to construct a robust portfolio by the end of the course. Armed with a well-rounded set of skills and a tangible portfolio showcasing my achievements, I was confident and well-prepared for the challenges of job hunting in my field.

What are some of your best memories of studying at Leeds Beckett?

The 2.5 enriching years I spent in Leeds were a transformative experience for me. I gained not only academic knowledge but also a cognitive maturity that significantly shaped my perspective.

My student journey journey faced a unique challenge as I ventured to study abroad in October 2020, only to be met with England's second lockdown shortly after my arrival, lasting a challenging 3-4 consecutive months. Though this period undoubtedly had its psychological impact, it became a crucible for valuable lessons in emotional balance and stress management. The resilience developed during this time became a significant support when I embarked on the endeavour of writing my first book.

You have recently published a book. What is it about? What inspired you to write it?

Reflecting on my personal growth and accumulated experiences, I felt compelled to rewrite my 10-year journey, encapsulating the unforgettable moments of my youth. In envisioning my own small legacy, I aim to share these experiences to benefit young individuals navigating their own paths. One early morning, amidst the bustling cityscape of London, I found myself contemplating a decade of life—transforming from an ordinary boy in a normal family with no specific ambitions to a person who, while not considering themselves entirely successful, takes pride in having fully lived their dreams.

This introspection fuels my desire to sit down with young minds and discuss the challenges encountered at each stage of my journey, unravelling the origins of stress and collectively drawing lessons from them.

My book “Diligence Today, Freedom Tomorrow” (2023) serves as a narrative that inspires readers to strive for personal fulfilment, emphasising the notion that one need not become someone for anyone else but should strive earnestly to become the best version of oneself.

How did you find the time to write with your studies and work keeping you occupied?

Balancing writing with my studies and work was undoubtedly challenging, but I attribute my success to effective time management. I believe that time management is intricately linked with emotion management. By understanding and regulating my emotions, I could optimise how I allocated my time.

The key for me was breaking down tasks into manageable components and adhering to a daily schedule. It's about recognising that every significant achievement stems from consistent and disciplined efforts. This approach allowed me not only to fulfil my academic and professional responsibilities but also to carve out dedicated time for my writing pursuits.

Do you have plans to publish more?

Yes, indeed! Currently, alongside my professional commitments, I am actively engaged in the creation of my second book, focusing on the theme of career orientation. The aim is to provide valuable insights and guidance for individuals navigating the complexities of career choices.

What advice would you have liked to receive when you were a student?

For international students seeking employment opportunities in the UK, my advice is to wholeheartedly embrace every opportunity that comes your way, no matter how small it may seem. Begin by exploring volunteer and unpaid opportunities within your field, as accumulating UK experience holds significant value. Remember, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. By actively participating in various experiences, even those initially unpaid, you not only enhance your skills but also establish a solid foundation for building a successful career in the UK. Every opportunity, regardless of its scale, contributes to your professional growth and sets you on the path to a rewarding future.
