Library & Student Services

Welcome to the new Leeds Beckett Library Blog!

This is the first post on our new Library Blog, we've set this up to keep you up to date with the next stage of the Sheila Silver Library refurbishment. We'll also let you know about other developments and changes in both campus Libraries.

Following on from the refurbishment of the third floor last summer, work starts at the end of May on the second floor. This will continue into the Autumn term and the floor is due to be reopened in early November.  It will mean some disruption at the start of term but we're sure it will be worth it!  The new floor will provide an improved study environment with a similar design and colour scheme to the third floor.

We've listened to your feedback as you've used the third floor during the year and your comments and suggestions have been fed into the planning process.  As a result the newly refurbished floor will include another Postgraduate research room, a printer hub, a separate silent study area and plug and USB ports at the study spaces.  Book stock for health, business and the arts (600-799) will be available on this floor.

We will also be creating some smaller meeting rooms so that there will be a variety available throughout the Library and clustering them so they are easier to find.

The Library will remain open 24/7 and staffed as usual throughout, with existing services and study spaces available in temporary locations. Books will be located throughout the Library including in G28 and G29 on the ground floor so please ask staff for help or pick up a leaflet to find out where they are.
