Find out why you should come along to one of the Library's virtual Study Cafes
Study Cafés are a chance for you to focus on your own work in a friendly online environment, where you will come together with peers and be supported throughout by Leeds Beckett's Academic Skills Tutors.
The Cafés are broken up into 25 minute sections - you work on your writing, reading, or other studies, interspersed with short chat breaks for you to check in on progress with your peers. Students attending say:
"This morning's virtual study café - Pomodoro style🍅✍️3 x 25-minute writing sessions 👋2 x 5-minute social breaks 💤1 x 25-minute long break at the end Supported by an Academic Skills Tutor from @BeckettLibrary and peers, we all cracked on with our writing projects. #PhD"
"(I can't believe) how much I can get done in a small window when I'm focused. How fast I can pilfer away 25 minutes on a phone but when I'm focused working with no distractions I can get a lot done. It was a welcome pressure that after the 25 minute window we would be coming back together. this made me want to work hard till the next break because I didn't want to have nothing to say or comment on. having the knowledge other people were sat in real time doing work was helpful"
"Being able to just concentrate on my work for up to 25 minutes in one go and block out all distractions. More of these Study Cafes please!"
Study cafés run alternate Thursdays and Fridays 10:00 -12:00 and are bookable on MyHub.
