Since graduating from our BSc Hospitality degree course, Melanie has had a successful career working as Director of Sales and Marketing at prestigious brands such as the Hyatt Regency & Hyatt House Manchester and Crowne Plaza & Staybridge Suites (IHG) Manchester.

Melanie took her expertise and knowledge to a new level when she teamed up with husband, James, to open their first wine bar and restaurant, Pride & Provenance in Halifax. Established in 2018, the restaurant has gone from strength to strength. Faced with the challenges of COVID-19 and the lockdown in 2020, they diversified their offer and began a home delivery service across Calderdale. The service they offered was so successful that they have since expanded their restaurant business and opened The Market, an onsite retail outlet where customers can purchase the produce they serve in their restaurant.

Following the announcement of their most recent accolade, the 2021 Travelers’ Choice Award from TripAdvisor, Course Director Dr Alexandra Kenyon said “Melanie is a great ambassador for Leeds Beckett University. She has taken the skills and knowledge gained on her course to enjoy a successful career within the hospitality industry. I am particularly proud of how Melanie and her husband diversified their business during the pandemic to ensure they survived and thrived during a very difficult time for the hospitality industry. It is great to see this recognised in their most recent award from TripAdvisor.”
