Professor Prayag’s research interests relate to tourist behaviour, organisational resilience, place attachment and wine tourism. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed articles in tourism and marketing journals and is co-author of the  “Tourism and Resilience” and “Sense of Place and Place Attachment in Tourism”.  Professor Prayag is the current editor of method and practice for “Current Issues in Tourism” and speciality editor for the new open access journal “Frontiers in Sustainable Tourism”.

Professor Prayag’s visit is part of the School’s research and internationalisation strategy to continue delivery of high quality, impactful research outputs. It also contributes to the School’s aim to increasing collaborations with internationally renowned scholars who’s research interests and expertise match those of the School.

During his visit, Professor Prayag gave a talk entitled “A Psychological Perspective of Tourist Resilience”. In his talk, he discussed the different facets of resilience and issues related to the definition of the term within the tourism context. The talk, which was attended by both staff and doctoral students, was very well received.

Commenting on the visit, Professor Neelu Seetaram said “Professor Prayag’s visit allowed us to work on our joint research bid, which we have now submitted.  We also discussed future collaborations and look forward to working together in the future with colleagues across the school”.
