By the end of the third year, students on BA (Hons) English with Creative Writing have learned to write monologues, poetry, short stories, micro fiction and have even studied script writing. In the Creative Writing Project module we created an anthology which reflects some of the knowledge we gained over the years and the improvements to our creativity on the page.

The anthology will contain works by third year students, which could be anything from prose to poetry and everything in between. As head of management of the anthology editing process, I have been sent creative works by other students and have sent them to our editorial team, who in turn have edited the pieces.

Even after managing the whole editorial side of the project, I have learned more and more about the non-creative aspects of being a writer. Communication is key and taking responsibility is very desirable. The anthology has eventually come together and has an amazing front cover, matching the beautiful pieces of writing it contains.

To fund the costs of printing and binding, we had a team who managed a gofundme page and we hosted a bake and book sale. Overall, we raised the money to provide all our third year creative writing students with a copy and anyone who donated over 10 pounds.

Creating an anthology is not easy but is very rewarding once you hold a copy of something you have all created together!
