What is Varsity?
You might have heard of Varsity, but it’s way more than just a sports contest. It’s a huge, inclusive social occasion that welcomes everyone from the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett. Find out everything you need to know from team captains Aaron and Ella.

When and where is Varsity held?
Varsity takes place from Monday 1 – Wednesday 3 May across both Leeds Beckett and the University of Leeds campuses. It concludes with the Rugby Finale at Headingley Stadium on the evening of Wednesday 3 May.
If rugby isn’t your thing, there’s still lots of ways you can get involved. If you’ve never experienced the excitement of live netball before, you can sample the atmosphere and cheer on LBU on Monday 1 May.
Alternatively, there’s lots of fixtures taking place for free on Headingley Campus. Most of the action is taking place on Wednesday 3 May alongside the Varsity Festival, where you can grab food and drink while cheering on our teams.
Is Varsity open to everyone?
Whether you’re a dedicated sports fan or looking to try something different, Varsity has something for you. It embraces the friendly rivalry of both universities and brings with it a unique atmosphere.
Which sports are played?
If it’s a sport, it’s probably a part of Varsity! From ice hockey to swimming and handball to netball, we have teams ready to battle it out to bring home the coveted Varsity trophy.
