As more staff are now on campus, the sustainability service are offering the chance to hire out one of our Electric Bikes to trial them for your commute.

An electric bike is a great alternative to using a car for many commutes and they have much lower carbon emissions. Whilst you still get some exercise, they do make going up steeper hills rather more enjoyable.

This offer gives you the chance to try out a commuter style e-bike, before committing to buying one which can be quite a financial outlay, although our staff cycle to work scheme can help with that. Staff can hire an  e-bike with helmet, panniers and lock for £20 for a one month trial. For more info and to book, contact transport@leedsbeckett.ac.uk

Staff can also hire out our regular hybrid hire bikes. Hybrid bike hire contracts are for up to three months at a time. If you need the bike for longer simply take out a new contract online via the link we send out to you. The cost is £50 for the first hire period plus £50 deposit. If you decide to take out a new hire contract for another three months the cost is £20 and the next two 3 month contracts are £10. Contracts start again after 4 periods at £50 and you will need to return your bike for maintenance at this point. We also offer a 1 month hire for £35.

Our bikes are 21 speed hybrids and are fitted with a good quality D-lock, front and rear lights, mudguards and a pannier luggage rack.

Where can I hire a bike from?

You can hire a hybrid bike from both the City Bike Hub and Headingley BikeFix workshops. Bring your staff card with you, we usually have bikes in stock ready to go. You will need to complete a hire agreement and pay your hire fee and deposit via our online store or by card at either workshop.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

When you hire a bike from us you are responsible for looking after it and ensuring it is maintained and kept in good condition, our workshops are here to help you with this.
