Who is the course for?

This course is for managers and those with significant responsibility for effective coaching and mentoring as part of their daily role within an organisational context. This course is also ideal for individuals who wish to move into a development role or start a career as a freelance coach or mentor.

What will I learn?

This course provides you with the opportunity to:

  • Get a critical understanding of the role and responsibilities of a workplace coach and mentor
  • Deepen your understanding of how coaching and mentoring can impact an organisation
  • Be able to asses your own skills, behaviours and knowledge as a coach and mentor
  • Provide evidence of your own development as a coach and mentor through the qualification
  • Plan your further development
  • Plan, develop and review coaching and mentoring in your organisation

On this course you will cover three core modules:

  • Understanding the skills, principles and practice of effective coaching and mentoring within a organisational context
    Consider the role and contribution of coaching and mentoring in your workplace, enabling you to build a clear business case.

  • Undertaking Coaching within an Organisational Context
    Demonstrate your ability to plan, deliver and review at least 18 hours of coaching or mentoring in your workplace.

  • Reflecting on Coaching Skills within an Organisational Context
    Critically review your own personal qualities, skills, and competence.

Delivery

This course is led by David Taylor. For over twenty years David has been a professional coach with a portfolio of clients including owners and Managing Directors of SME’s as well as leaders working in larger organisations in the UK and beyond.

David will guide you through group workshops and individual tutorials predominantly online via MS Teams. Please note, Session 1 and Session 10 are in person and take place at Leeds Beckett University city campus.

The programme is structured into three distinct stages:

  1. Understanding the skills, principles and practice of effective coaching in the workplace
    4000 word report
  2. Practical coaching with one or two coaches
    Undertake 18 hours of practical coaching
  3. Reflecting and reviewing your experience
    Reflective journal with 12 month CPD plan

There are no formal academic entry requirements however, please note this programme is for people who have experience of coaching in their organisation or are responsible for coaching and for those who want to move into coaching. It is also suitable for those who want to start a career as a freelance coach, particularly working with organisations.
