Suitable for experienced registered healthcare practitioners this module aims to develop a critical understanding of key theories and threshold concepts for working with emotional/mental health and wellbeing within the context of current policy, and to enhance and develop reflexive skills and confidence in the therapeutic use of self within the role of the Specialist Practitioner/Nurse and in relation to meeting the emotional/mental health and wellbeing needs of individuals, groups and communities

To develop a critical understanding of key theories and threshold concepts for working with emotional/mental health and wellbeing within the context of current policy. To enhance and develop reflexive skills and confidence in the therapeutic use of self within the role of the Specialist Practitioner/Nurse and in relation to meeting the emotional/mental health and wellbeing needs of individuals, groups and communities.
- Integrate knowledge and understanding of current policy drivers in mental health and critically evaluate application in relation to role and scope of practice.
- Analyse and evaluate the nature of the therapeutic use of self in relation to working with individuals, families, groups and communities.
- Demonstrate critical knowledge and understanding of the concept of emotional/mental health/wellbeing and how mental/emotional health problems develop at an individual and societal level.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify, determine and critically account for an individual's emotional/ health needs, recognising those at risk, and the ability to construct skilled and effective person-centred interventions to meet these needs.
- Critically examine and evaluate the role of the Nurse/Specialist Practitioner/Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in relation to meeting the emotional/mental health and wellbeing needs of the individual, group and community
