If you live for sound – from beats and melodies to immersive audio and live performance – this course gives you the skills, confidence, and creative freedom to turn your passion into a profession. On this BA (Hons) Music Production degree, you’ll learn to create, record, produce, and perform using industry-standard studios and software, while developing your own distinctive creative voice.

By experimenting and collaborating, you’ll refine your craft through projects that reflect the realities of today’s music, sound, and entertainment industries. Alongside this, you’ll build the academic knowledge needed to support, strengthen, and future-proof your practice.

As part of your course, you’ll:

  • Develop your creative, technical, and compositional skills in music and audio production
  • Build a solid theoretical foundation to support your creative practice
  • Work on industry-focused briefs, from solo projects to collaborative productions
  • Understand how professional contexts shape creative decision-making, workflows, and production processes
  • Collaborate with students across disciplines and work in production teams to build employability skills in areas like teamwork and project management

This is a hands-on, future-facing course designed for musicians, producers, and audio creatives who want to work across the music and wider creative industries.

Professional spaces to nurture creative freedom
You'll work in professional music production facilities using industry-standard software, including Logic Pro, Cubase, Adobe Audition, MAX MSP, and Synthmaker. Depending on the optional modules you choose, you might also use Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Unreal Engine, and other specialist software used across music, film, TV, and games audio.

A placement year option and your final year project provide you with opportunities to work with industry partners, helping you build experience, confidence, and professional connections before you graduate.

Artist in Residence Programme

Work with artists, learn from professionals, and create real projects. Our Artist in Residence programme enables you to work directly with professional musicians and creatives, gaining insight into how music projects are developed, produced, and delivered in industry settings. Previous artists include Cherry Seraph, Chris T-T, Ian Prowse, I Monster, Tom Williams, and Utah Saints.
