Train to be a community public health nurse with a specialism in school nursing.
With a strong theoretical grounding coupled with the practical experience developed on your placements, you will have the necessary expertise to meet the Nursing & Midwifery Council's high standards of care as a specialist nurse. There will be the opportunity to explore concepts of health behaviours and promotion in the public health arena, and you will also consider how to effectively meet the wellbeing needs of individuals, groups and wider communities. By exploring leadership and management in clinical practice, you will examine the challenges of delivering health and social care services in the current climate especially in relation to professional school nursing.
At the end of your course as a qualified school nurse you will have the skills to deliver effective healthcare to children, young people and their families.
Visit the Men into Nursing Together Twitter page @MINTnursing for information on this initiative.
You'll have a close partnership with practice teachers, and will develop in practice through leadership, multi-disciplinary working, implementing public health policies and influencing practice.
You will have the chance to progress to our MSc, which incorporates a dissertation, systematic review or work based study, and offers you the opportunity to pursue research as a scholarly activity and influence practice.
